The color guard performs alongside the marching band at football games, competitions and parades. The purpose of the color guard is to interpret the music that the marching band is playing via the synchronized work of flags, rifles, sabres, and through dance.
•Hanover Color Guard will be holding a spin clinic May 21-23 from 4:00-6:00PM. The clinic dates are to teach flag spinning and technique along with a bit of dance. Each day the skills are added upon. During these clinic days the students will be taught a routine for the auditions. Auditions will be on Friday, May 24th.
•Students who are auditioning are asked to meet in the band room by 4:00. All are asked to wear athletic or gym attire (no jeans). Please make sure to abide by dress code rules. Bring plenty of water!
•Once auditions are complete, an email will be sent out indicating the newest members of the Hanover Color Guard.
•Rehearsals start in July on Tuesdays during the summer from 6-8pm. We use this time to polish up on our basic skills.
•Members of the color guard prepare for the season by attending “camp” week at school usually held late July/early August. The choreographer comes and teaches the choreography for the routine at this time.
•Band camp starts in August 5th and runs thru August 22nd Monday-Thursday all day. This is where you are taught to march and learn where to march on the field.
•Rehearsals during the school year are Mondays and Thursdays 4:00 – 6:30.
•Fridays, starting in September thru the first week of November, GAME DAY! A quick rehearsal is held after school starting at 4:00. There is an option to pay for a pizza package for dinner before the game starts.
•Saturdays starting late September thru October are competition days
